You don't have to figure it out alone. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck after difficult experiences, or simply wanting life to feel more manageable again, therapy can help.

I'm Erica Schmid, MACP, RCC, a certified EMDR therapist in Langley offering in-person and online therapy since 2018 for trauma survivors, first responders, healthcare professionals, individuals struggling with burnout, anxiety, perfectionism, performance anxiety, and difficulty navigating life transitions. While my work focuses on helping individuals process difficult experiences, reduce symptoms, and build skills for greater stability and well-being, none of this is possible without having a truly strong relationship between therapist and client. The better the therapeutic alliance, the more you will benefit from therapy. I can say that I work hard to built trust, safety, accountability, and respectful boundries; clients often tell me how much they appreciate my groundedness and genuine care, and that they leave our sessions feeling understood, inspired, and far more hopeful.

Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, I listen for the deeper story - the images, emotions, and life experiences that shape who you are. Using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and a collaborative, person-centered approach, we make room for healing that feels grounded, respectful, and lasting. EMDR helps the brain process difficult memories so they no longer feel as emotionally overwhelming. It doesn't erase what happened - it changes how those memories affect you today.

Sessions are collaborative, tailored, and goal-oriented. We work with both the practical realities of daily life and the deeper currents that shape them. We identify what you want to change, use proven methods to address it, and track progress along the way.
In your first session, we'll discuss what's bringing you in - you can ask questions, and we'll identify goals and approach together. There is no pressure to share everything immediately.
When trauma or painful memories keep you stuck, EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer trigger the same level of emotional or physical reactivity. The work is paced carefully, always honouring your readiness and your own inner wisdom.

I support individuals navigating:
My commitment is simple: to be present, caring, and respectful for the work we do together. Therapy is a place where the ordinary can become meaningful again, and where healing can unfold at a human pace.
