About White Crow Therapy

Can this person help with what I'm dealing with?

I'm Erica Schmid, MACP, RCC, a certified EMDR therapist in Langley offering in-person and online therapy since 2018 for trauma survivors, first responders, healthcare professionals, individuals struggling with burnout, anxiety, perfectionism, performance anxiety, and difficulty navigating life transitions.  While my work focuses on helping individuals process difficult experiences, reduce symptoms, and build skills for greater stability and well-being, none of this is possible without having a truly strong relationship between therapist and client. The better the therapeutic alliance, the more you will benefit from therapy. I can say that I work hard to built trust, safety, accountability, and respectful boundries; clients often tell me how much they appreciate my groundedness and genuine care, and that they leave our sessions feeling understood, inspired, and far more hopeful.

More about me

What will therapy be like?

Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, I listen for the deeper story - the images, emotions, and life experiences that shape who you are. Using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and a collaborative, person-centered approach, we make room for healing that feels grounded, respectful, and lasting.  EMDR helps the brain process difficult memories so they no longer feel as emotionally overwhelming. It doesn't erase what happened -  it changes how those memories affect you today.

Am I in the right place?

Sessions are collaborative, tailored, and goal-oriented. We work with both the practical realities of daily life and the deeper currents that shape them. We identify what you want to change, use proven methods to address it, and track progress along the way.

What to expect

In your first session, we'll discuss what's bringing you in - you can ask questions, and we'll identify goals and approach  together. There is no pressure to share everything immediately.

My Practice

When trauma or painful memories keep you stuck, EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer trigger the same level of emotional or physical reactivity. The work is paced carefully, always honouring your readiness and your own inner wisdom.

Treatment Focus

I support individuals navigating:

  • Trauma and PTSD
    • ongoing effects of traumatic or highly distressful experiences (may include intrusive memories, hypervigilence, emotional reactivity, avoidance, or difficulty feeling safe in daily life.
    • support for lasting impact of difficult or adverse experiences that do not meet full criteria for PTSD but continue to affect mood, relationships, self-view, or daily functioning
  • Anxiety and panic
    • dealing with persistant worry, physical symptoms of anxiety, panic attacks, and patterns of avoidance.
  • Phobias and specific fears
    • targeting work with intense fears that interfere with daily functioning (i.e fear of driving, flying, medical procedures, or certain social situations)
  • Complicated grief and loss
    • support following significant loss when grief remains intense or prolonged
  • Difficulty moving forward after difficult experiences
  • Stress and overwhelm amplified by earlier life events.
  • Performance anxiety and high-pressure situations
    • anxiety that arises in performance, work, academic, or evaluative settings.
  • Life transitions and the search for meaning
  • Patterns that no longer serve the life you want to live

Client Promise

My commitment is simple: to be present, caring, and respectful for the work we do together. Therapy is a place where the ordinary can become meaningful again, and where healing can unfold at a human pace.
