In taking a holistic approach to supporting clients' current challenges, a Biopsychosocial perspective considers how uncovering and building strengths, along with increasing resilience, are critical for effective therapeutic outcomes. Along with considering a client's stage of development, areas like physical health, coping skills/resources, family support/functioning, sociocultural influences, financial stability, and educational attainment are critical for understanding how best to support my clients' paths towards optimal functioning. I also collaborate with other health professionals if needed. If the needs of my clients require more extensive services, I consider options to refer to a suitable specialist.
EMDR Therapy
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and is a form of therapy that helps people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. Experiencing trauma can affect the brain's natural ability to recover from distressing events. EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories through alternating eye movements, sounds, or taps. Courtesy of EMDR International Association https://www.emdria.org
